A Brief Introduction To The Importance Of Law No. 5 and local product preference certificates
The Federation always emphasizes the importance of enforcing Law No. 5 of 2015 regarding the preference of Egyptian products in government contracts to achieve key objectives such as supporting local industry, deepening local manufacturing, and attracting new investments to establish industries that do not currently exist, benefiting from the incentives offered by this law, and utilizing idle capacities in local industry.
In light of the state’s plan and national projects scheduled for implementation over several years, investors can develop investment plans based on a clear vision, which will support the establishment of industries in Egypt. This will attract local and foreign investors, accelerate industry localization, transfer modern technology, and provide training for required skills, in addition to utilizing idle capacities in Egyptian factories through requalification and worker training.
Enforcing Law No. 5 of 2015 is one of the mechanisms that enable attracting new investments, transferring technology, and training the necessary skills.
To achieve this, the Federation of Egyptian Industries is committed to publishing various data on products that have received the local product preference certificate, so all government entities can search the database for products certified either for government tenders or export burden reimbursement through search by:
- Company Name
- Industry Sector
- Product Name
- Certificate Type
- Issue Date
In this context, the Federation urges all members to obtain the certificate of local component percentage to be eligible to participate in government tenders.
